This little song has always been one of my favorite Elvis songs. It was recorded by Elvis for the 1963 movie "It Happened At The Worlds Fair". He recorded this song in Hollywood California September 22, 1962 at the Radio Recorder studios.
The author of this song Don Robertson had these words to say.
Don Robertson: One evening at Elvis' house in Bel Air he asked me to play his piano and we spent some time jamming, with Elvis and some of his friends singing. It was not long after that that I got called to play on his sessions for the soundtrack for It Happened At The World's Fair. We recorded for about twelve hours at Radio Recorders, completing the entire soundtrack in one day. There was a moment, when I had to fight for They Remind Me Too Much of You, when someone mentioned that it resembled Chapel In The Moonlight. It wasn't Elvis that noticed the similarity, it was someone in the control booth while we were rehearsing.
I was afraid they were going to throw the song out of the session, so I worked out new opening notes at the piano. Then I went over to Elvis where he was standing in front of his vocal mike and I sang him the new notes. He said, 'Fine. I think I can do that!' So that's the way he sang it on the next run through, and the powers that be in the booth said OK and we did a finished take.

  • @CBSEye Trust me Jersey Guy I could not have afforded to buy a microphone this expensive either. When I stepped down from running the sound and video for my Church after 30 years the Church bought this mic for me. As you might imagine I was thrilled.

  • (continued from below) - "World's Fair." No wonder your voice sounds so wam with equipment like that. Try "I'm Falling in Love Tonight" from the same film. I think you'd do a superb job on that one, Terry. Cheers! Your singing pal, JG @ CBSEye

  • Hey terrisonb, the Jersey Guy's gonna have to wait on that great retro mike of yours, but I appreciate the detailed history below as I know your fans will as well. Like you, i've loved this single and it's flip since the first time I saw "Worlld

  • @CBSEye Thank you so much Jersey Guy for stopping by again. I have loved this little song since I first heard it as a kid. The microphone is a 1947 year model. It is an RCA 74B Ribbon Mic. It was the least expensive of the RCA Ribbon Mic's made between 1936 and the mid 1950's. The models 44 and 77 are far better mics but are FAR more expensive to purchase now. The last 74B that I saw sold on ebay went for around $800. That seems to be the fair going rate for one of these in top condition.
