In my electronics class, my instructor allowed me to burn out this crappy 300 ohm 1/4W resistor. Smoking!

It would have set off the fire alarm and prompted an evacuation of the college if it smoked even more. Heh.

  • try a higher watt value and see if it catches on fire....lol i used a 16 ohm 1/8th watt resistor with the highest setting on my source and it was putting out 25 volts into that tiny thing....it immediatly caught on fire lol so much fun

  • My resistor burned really, with flammes. But yours just smoked a little bit. Try carbon based resistors the next time :-)
