Farewell Honey and Toto (a Tribute)

Two cheetahs from BBC's 2006 Big Cat week. Honey was filmed first in 2002 and then was killed, sadly by a very STUPID vet who shot her with a tranquiliser. Toto was filmed in 2006 and was around 7-8 weeks old, the youngest and most adorable cheetah cub ever filmed in Kenya. however little Toto never made it to the end of the week. This is a tribute in their memories. We won't ever forget them. Honey was a brave, beautiful mother of around 6-7 litters, Toto was an inquisitve little youngester. This is a farewell tribute. It's tough out there in the Mara, and unfortunately for some of the cats in Big Cat, there just can't be a happy ending...

I actually just discovered Toto while looking through youtube for vids of cheetahs(my fav animal) and I fell in love right away but I was so sad to learn that he did not make it. If you could let me know where you got many of these pictures of Toto and Honey it would be greatly appreciated.

i searched big cat week toto on google and on the BBC website BigCat and theres the whole timeline of honeys life and totos etc. this is where i foud all these photos of toto

I was sad when Toto didn't make it, but it's rare for cheetah cubs - or any young in that harsh enviornment - to survive, so it was to be expected. Honey on the other hand, I cried my eyes out when I heard she died because it was not through natural selection, but a simple human mistake...I remember watching Honey in the 90s when she first appeared on camera. Such a sad ending to a great cat

I still watch old video clips of Honey and Toto together. They are absolutely beautiful animals and it is evident that they loved and needed each other. And everytime I watch this video I still get teary eye.

Once big cat diary ended, i did'nt know what to do... then i remembered the strong and powerful "Toto" Even though he did'nt make it... he was the strongest willed cub i'd ever seen on the ENTIRE series... Rest In Peace Toto! We'll all miss you, god bless your soul.

I thought Toto was mauled by a baboon then perished in a storm? Also, WHY was Honey tranquilized??? Just because she was in the savannah?

but i also want to add that Honey had 3 other cubs all males that survived and are still alive and doing well as a hunting trio

For Honey to make it through childhood in the Savannah and become a mother to just be killed by a Vet is terrible
