,"Martial arts or fighting arts are systems of codified practices and traditions of training for combat. Martial arts all have a very similar objective: defend oneself or others from physical threat" thats the wikipedia definition i think boxing fits there.then again martial arts dont have toi be complicated one reaseon i like boxing is cuz its simplicity and effectivness in reall life
Yeah that's tru but can't any person deliver a punch to a man's "sweet spot" and kill them without knowing boxing? Yeah it is a great self defense, but can it hold you off from someone who is as equally powerful but trained in martial arts? I doubt it but im not sure. For the deadly moves. well i can only think of strong blows to the head, liver, kidney, or diaphragm. But once again those are moves that are used in most combat sports. Now wether they are hooks, uppercuts or straights, idk
true mma fights can be intresting but boxing is a martial art simple it can be used aas selfdefense quite efective one.and for deadly moves well a punch in a man"s "sweet spot" can kill a person there were many boxers that died ina fight from punches to the head alone
Actually, Firpo had dynamite in his right hand. It was a devastating punch, which Firpo somehow landed right on the button, knocking Dempsey out of the ring.
The punch that knocked Dempsey out of the ring was no mega punch. But it came from above and pushed the guy out of the ring. I don't know about the rules but if they had have decided the fight on that it would have been pretty lame.
@nightshadao I read somewhere that he bigger the glove, in fact the more the damage. With only the weight of a fist one can not do that much damage even if it cuts. But with the added weight of a glove, though their is padding, the weight results in greater brain damage.
Whoa i agree with you on the boxing aint dead because it's a classic sport just watching two men beat the hell out of each other. However MMA is not crap, imo it's better then boxing because you are trying to kill the other person really not knock them out. Plus you can use kicks and grappling moves to win. While boxing is great, it can't even be considered a martial art because it has no "finishers" and i don't mean game finishers i mean moves that can kill a person. Mix Martial Arts isn't crap

Any truth?
Please stop trying to hype up two sweaty dudes rolling around on the ground as "fighting". It's lame. Pro wrestling is better than that MMA crap.
Boxing is alive and doing very, very well.
