I had to do a short documentary on the Underground Railroad in Illinois. At the end of it, I added this photo montage to it, to the tune of Sam Cooke. The song just resonates with me and it seems to fit these times.

  • take tiger woods and condeliza rice off that

  • Take Tiger Woods off, but not Ali, or Jordan or Mr. 20,000 Wilt Chamberlain? At least Wilt wasn't married. But Jordan and Ali had their flings while married.

  • kcarterchicago...consider adding a pic of Shirley Chisholm, who ran for President of the United States in 1972 on the platform " Change" thirty six years before Barack Obama.

  • You make a really good point.

  • What a powerful and moving video, I hope that all parents sit their children down and not only show them this video but explain why the things that are depicted in this video are so important to African American culture and heritage. Rember Black History doesn't only occur in Feburary.

  • The song is powerful, and the images are powerful. I'm glad YouTube decided to allow the audio to be heard again. A little over 10 months ago, they shut this video down because of the song.

  • Thank you for sharing something positive about our shared experiences in this place. There is still much work which needs to be done, we still have many issues, but, we ought to concentrate on the good things that we can do and the common things that benefit all people. Take more pride in our own heritage and culture --but, be willing to learn and or tolerate things that we might not readily understand! The people that I knew that personally knew Sam Cooke are deceased but I still have memories.

  • ...dont understand why you included Michael jordan....he does not take a stand for anything ....his selfishness shows everyday.....JIM BROWN, BILL RUSSELL...WHERE ARE THEY...THEY STOOD UP FOR CIVIL RIGHTS TOGETHER IN THIS COUNTRY....THE 1964 BOSTON CELTICS(1ST ALL-BLACK STARTING LINEUP IN NBA....

  • “Lock up your libraries if you like, but there is no gate, no lock, no bolt that you can set upon the freedom of my mind.”

  • @DaCoach68 You're right. Lebron scored and got hyped and some golfer said something like. I dont like Lebron,I like M.J. because he wouldnt do that. I'm thinking of course he wont because he isn't Lebron James he's Michael Jordan

  • @HipHop226 Sorry, man...I thought you were the one saying "Take Tiger" off this video" I think he got a bad rap, yo. Yeah, he busted up his family and was a totally f'ing dawg...but that got nothing to do with me. Parents freak out "he's supposed to be a role model"...NO HE AIN'T. He's an athlete. PARENTS are supposed to be role models. *sorry, again---I just saw it as a way for 'others' to tarnish the fact that the world's greatest golfer was not an old white man. ;)

  • @DaCoach68 I don't know what you're talking about b. I don't care about his life and never said anything about him being a family man.

  • @HipHop226 no reason to take Tiger Woods off the video. He wasn't paid to be a family man...he was paid to play golf. Yeah, he's a dawg...but that doesn't diminish him as an athlete. His private life should be his business. MLK, reportedly cheated, Jordan too. Harold Washington was gay. None of it has ANYTHING to do with US.

  • The times have changed within some places, yet the same affliction by oppression and segregation is as alive today as they were many years past ... Israel and its Zionist execution party, is still doing the white thing upon the rights for a unified human equality upon one place .... Earth.

  • @tharealezt First of all my man we are African American Not Afro. AFRO is a hairstyle. 2nd this song is a dediaction to African American struggles and accomplishments. It's in no way paying homage to America. Thanks for watching
