Its worth paying the little extra for a new screen that comes with the frame(housing/bezel) as you will not need to separate the broken screen from the frame and will have a nice new bezel.

If you've seen the drop test then you might find this puts your mind at ease for replacing the screen..

DIY repairs will void any warranty but may save you £$ :-)

The sim tray for the i9300 will fit the i9305 and possibly other models.

Do you need to replace the power button when it becomes stiff or do you need to replace the entire main board?

I would try removing and cleaning the button first, if its still a problem you can have the switch replaced at your local repair shop

I opened it and cleaned it with some instruments because it was damaged, the little black square on the bottom of the phone had a white eroded spot, I was able to remove it. Also a lot of dirt and other stuff. My phone will go completely on, the screen is not physically broken and reacts to finger movement...but the screen won't go on. It's just a black screen. Do you know where to put my extra focus on replacing/cleaning? Seeing my screen itself is fine. When it broke down it had stripes first.

Try and get hold of another S3 and plug their screen into your phone, then you'll know if a new screen will fix your problem. You can watch the 'galaxy s3 screen replacement' video to see how this can be done

Its worth taking it apart and having a look, but you'll probably find a new screen fixes the problem as its probably broken internally

Amazing. Simple to follow, well explained, and informative at the same time. Bravo Sir. My S3 now has a new working screen.

It is possible to separate the glass from the LCD screen by using a heat gun and something as thin as a deck of playing cards. (you'll ruin the glass and cards in the process) there are videos here on youtube on how to replace just the glass screen and it only costs 15-20 USD. whilst replacing the glass screen just remember to change out the button.
