I've heard the song only a month ago and it blew me away, and now I find you explaining it in detail. Thank you very much for the tutorial, and much like a lot of people here, I like your version more.

Hi there, just a few questions, I've been playing bass for a year and a bit now, so I'm getting there. Got a Fender P bass, what I really want to know is how to slap like this and get this tone. I have a dual band compression pedal, multi effects pedal, so it must be possible.
Also, slapping technique, I cant get right.
Any advice? =]

@emperorgrant - I don't think a stock Fender P is going to get you this type of slap tone. You really need a Jazz bass or a Stingray. I dig the P-bass slap tone but it doesn't sound like that's what you're after. No amount of pedals will give you the sound of a dual pickup bass or a Stingray. The Wal bass is out of reach for most!!!

honestly, i like your "hybrid" version better than the actual bass line.

@draciel80 - Thank you! It's just kind of the way I always heard it in my head.
