It's a nod to the viewers who like the series; it doesn't have to make sense. We all fondly remember Carrie's tutu in the opening sequence of the series so it's like they're saying "we'll "take" it for the audience"

Thank you so much for posting this scene! I am a huge fan of the series & I still miss it. However, I was rather disappointed by the film. THIS is what I wanted to see/feel from the movie. The friendship of the girls, laughing and having fun. The movie didn't have nearly enough of that, IMO. It seemed more like a 145-minute runway show for SJP & Carrie's outfits. I really hope that the sequel will focus more on ALL of the characters. This scene is classic. I watched it 6 times in a row! =)
