Pakistan 2007, au pied des 8611 mètres du K2, l'alpiniste Portugais Joào Garcia, tente ici l'ascension de son 9ème 8000.
Le temps pour lui de revenir sur ses différentes ascensions de ces géants Himalayens : Cho Oyu, Dhaulagiri, Everest, Gasherbrum 1 et 2, Lhotse, Kanchenjunga, Shishapangma.
Des moments magiques qu'il a vécu seul ou qu'il a partagés sur ces sommets, aux pires, qui l'ont marqués très profondément comme celui d'un certain bivouac forcé à 8500 mètres à l'Everest un jour de 1999, Joào Garcia nous offre ici un témoignage unique et poignant, sur le destin d'un homme qui s'est donné comme objectif l'ascension des 14 huit mille.
Des motivations d'un tel challenge, à l'éthique employée pour y arriver, du sponsoring à l'utilisation controversée de l'oxygène, il apporte une vision sans artifices de l'himalayisme et inscrit le Portugal dans le monde restreint de la très haute altitude.
