@Flamingredrose9 the fire is eternal, but not the soul's that are cast in. Read Revelation 21:8 with an OPEN mind, not skewed with doctrine. Clearly the Lord says that they shall be cast into the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, "this is the second DEATH" They have already died the 1st death, and at the judgment, are damned to the 2nd death... not tossed in to suffer burning forever and ever! DEATH

@Jasper50 the truth will set you free. my mind was in bondage over the false doctrine of dantes inferno (hell). but nonetheless, you should still grieve for the lost and tell them the gospel, although they do not get punished in a fiery place called hell, they will drink the full cup of Gods wrath. it will be horrible. and they will suffer punishment for their sins. but lead them to the great shepherd Jesus Christ before it is too late. pray for all the lost, never stop. @Flamingredrose9 the fire is eternal because it is the LORD himself, he is a consuming fire and he cannot be quenched. In flaming fire taking vengeance upon those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Sodom and Gomorrah also suffered the vengeance of eternal fire, yet they are a pile of ashes, lifeless, to this day, with no fire there. They are the example of what happens to people who live wicked lives full of sin. to live in "hell" would be eternal life still, just horrible.

@shoelatchet the rich man and lazarus is a parable, just like all the other parables Jesus taught, not meant to be taken literally but figuratively. I would ask all who believe Jesus Christ took their punishment upon himself, what is their punishment? Eternal torment in a fiery place, or Death? If the punishment is dantes inferno (hell), no one would ever be fully punished, nor would Jesus have satisfied it by his atoning death on the cross. the resurrection also is meaningless if that were true

I think that when people go to Hell.. they just don't exist anymore. God has given us life but He can also take it away. And think about this.. just NOT existing anymore.. isn't that eternal torment? I believe so. But the thing is.. when people think about Hell.. they mostly imagine people being tortured by demons. The Bible never said that!
