A tip: Get the same spices that you used to rub the bird and mix them with some olive oil and then use that to baste the bird three or four times while its cooking

Great thing about beer can chicken is that your not limited on what you use for a rub...hell your not even limited to just a rub by itself

add some 100% honey (not rice syrup with mayo first) then add all the spices you like...
