Tour de France 2009 Stage 17, Côte d'Araches

High Mountains. This was the tours densest mountain stage in 2009 with five passes that count towards the best-climber classification.

Martin and I was there to experience the tour caravane, and what a great experience that was. In short we had a stop over in Verbiers last summer, and arrived at the very same day when the caravane left Martigny (Verbiers). Really bad timing that was. The very next day Martin and I got into the car and with permissions from our famliy's we went to France - around Mt Blanc - to experience stage 17 live on one of the climbs.

This video was taken with the camera in my cell phone and pretty much shows what we experienced on Côte d'Araches (3rd climb out of 5). Later Frank Schleck from the Danish Team Saxo Bank won the stage. On our way back to the car we agreed that we were to try a climb like this one ourselves in the near future. This decision led to us participating in La Marmotte 2010 and the establishment of DK 3650 Cycling the today counts more than than 60 members (March 2010)
