@radioteacher thanks for the prompt reply. I have an EMCO RF-1 signal gen. It does not have the FM input. Is there any way you can think of to 'fool' the gen to modulate the sine wave sideways? Also, what model gen do you have? Thx a lot.

Hi! This is great! Can you possily make a video explaining " sidebands" and how they are used in ham radio . This is hard to understand.Also could you make a video explaing complex waves such as the sounds and timbre of different musical instruments ,harmonics etc.

@Thermionman1970
I am still trying to figure out the best way to display a Single Side Band - Suppressed Carrier signal that can give the viewer the same level of understanding as the AM and FM videos.
I took Musical Physics at NTSU (now UNT) in the 80's. The professor did a number of experiments that I might recreate. I will see what I can do.

I have an RF signal gen set at 10Mhz, the int/ext mod switch is set to ext. mod and I'm feeding it 1 to 10hz. However, I'm seeing the amplitude change(AM) as opposed to frequency phase shifting (FM). Can you tell me whats' incorrect about my setup? thx.

@nlimchua If your Signal Generator does not have a switch or input marked FM then most likely it is going to only modulate using Amplitude Modulation. Two of my signal generators will modulate FM as well as AM.

I will be remaking the video with better equipment and better dialog soon and then post it again. Please check out the Video on Amplitude Modulation as well.
