  • Nope, this control room is located in Toronto. We do Toronto, Winnipeg and Kelowna newscasts from our broadcast centre.

  • Is this a control room that will be closing as a result of Global's centralised control room / blue screen studio strategy?

  • No, this control room just went on the air on Jan. 11th

  • I noticed the time on the wall is eastern and Moutain, is this control room in Calgary producing the Toronto News? I hear Calgary and Vancouver Produce all the newscast.

  • @1moreastronaut do you know who made the news graphics for Global News?

  • @garycalgary It can be an interesting business, to be sure. I do actually work in the control room featured here, but was not working the night this was recorded.

  • @1moreastronaut I am going to assume that you know what you are talking about. I have seen anchors on air that seem to struggle because it seems that the producer is talking in their ear. I even remember one anchor saying can control room switch off. Television news has always fascinated me. I even begged CTV Edmonton to send me a staff 50th anniversary DVD when they were CFRN it's very interesting.

  • @garycalgary Generally, anchors don't get information from producers (or directors or anyone else) until they've stopped talking. As a rule, we try not to talk to them until they're off-camera, though there are rare occasions in which we're forced to talk to them. Breaking news, obviously.

  • Very very cool....thanks for putting this up

  • i just wonder how an anchor can read with the producer talking in their ear
