GOP Reps. Dave Camp and Sam Johnson proposed amendments to the "stimulus" bill which would have cut taxes for the bottom two tax brackets, and which would have removed the tax on unemployment benefits.

Ever Democrat Rep. opposed these, with "Baghdad Jim" McDermott complaining that "if you don't pay taxes, you get nothing out of this amendment."




Strike Making Work Pay, reduce the 10% and 15% individual income tax brackets to 5% and 10%, respectively, for 2009 and 2010.
