Back in April 2011 there were three additions to the Warringah waste collection fleet. URM was in need of some extra and healthier trucks to carry out the daily services, so they purchased some more side loaders off Sutherland, but this time they were MacDonald Johnstons.

These trucks were allocated to three specific drivers who deserved a new machine or needed a truck in better condition. One of these drivers happened to be our fellow YouTube member, Matt (garbo23), after showing the management he meant business. Out of the few 2005 model side loaders, Matt became acquainted with BI 76 KQ on a Thursday afternoon and took it out for the first time the next day.

After completing my own day's work I found Matt and captured this footage of the truck's first shift on that Friday in a section of Dee Why. This truck looked great with a fresh coat of paint, roared with power and went hard from the very start; just check out the speed of the raise and lower functions! During the in-cab shot you may notice this truck isn't equipped with the regular joystick found on these trucks and this was also the first MJ I had seen with safety rails on top of the body.

Keep an eye out for BI 77 KQ and AV 49 QV, which are the other identical trucks bought off Sutherland. I also have additional footage of this truck on the recycling runs. I hope you guys enjoy the footage of another machine found working in Warringah.

  • Hey mitch are they going to put cameras in the truck?

  • @SitaEnvironmental They have the reverse camera at the back, hopper camera doesn't work on this one.

  • Awesome vid mate ! is there no can limits ? how long to you get your truck license ?

  • @rempledisposal Most of the bins shown belong to individual households - the second clip was taken outside two apartments which is why there were so many bins. Get my MR licence in November for single axles, then the year after I can go heavy duty with the full range of garbage trucks... can't wait any longer!

  • Oi why does matt work in warringah? 5 dock would be close for him!

  • @Superiorpakfan Pretty much just where the work was available at the time, I think Matt preferred Warringah too?

  • Cool seeing that whole line around 2:26 with the consistent head movements lol, turn back to grab the can, then forward looking at the mirror to make sure it gets emptied, then back at the can. Exactly how the drivers I've watched in person do it, except they probably spend a BIT more time at each 'stage' with our ASLs hahahaha

Especially good clip around 4:59. Awesome post, always like seeing a good, smooth MJ with plenty of life left in it. Or so URM hopes being that they just got it, used..

  • Yeah,and they`re still steaming pieces of shit....lol

  • @Sean12325 - yea mate it was pretty nice driving the gen v. only difference was joystick and the automatic pedal. and yes it was sweet to have the moniter working

  • @garbo23 Mate that would've been sweet driving the newer truck aye. When you drove the GenV, did you notice much difference from the MkIV. Least you had a hopper camera/monitor to look at instead of the mirrors.

  • @Sean12325 nah mate wasn't driving it at the time, was driving one of the new gen v's ......

  • @garbo23 I bet that sucked, did you have to drive back to the depo for a spare truck?

  • @MitchellM15 Would be interesting to find out
