The Invisalign experience, Week 3. Invisalign attachments were put on my teeth today. They are tooth-colored bumps of bonding material that will stay attached to my teeth until the end of treatment. They help turn the teeth into the correct positions. The appointment took about an hour. I have asymmetrical tooth alignment, overbite, space between my front teeth, etc. so I need a lot of attachments. Wasn't too bad. The sanding down of the attachments was the worst part. I have sensitive teeth so sometimes it struck a nerve. But Heather at Carter Orthodontics would stop if it was bothering me and was very careful around the gum line. With the attachments on I should really start seeing an improvement in my teeth. Next week I get to switch aligners!

  • @spinceara Thanks!

  • people say that you cant drink or eat any sweets with Invisalign but does gum count as that too?

  • @NotUrAverageChics103 I drink sweet tea, coke, etc with mine in. I do try to get to a bathroom soon after to rinse them out and/or brush my teeth and aligners. I've also chewed gum with them in. The gum did get underneath my aligners and I had to take them out to get the gum out. I'm sure some orthodontists may cringe when they read this because I think they worry about tooth decay. I don't make a habit out of it though.

  • how much is for teens? and where is this at?

  • @WildMonkey023596 The cost varies depending on the treatment prescribed by the orthodontist. You may have different issues with your bite or alignment than I do. Mine were around $5K. Dr. Carter has three locations: Evans, GA; Aiken, SC; North Augusta, SC.

  • @TwilightVids4Life It was only this hard in the video because it was my first time. I've had them on for 18 months now and it's a piece of cake.

  • @TwilightVids4Life There are some cases that can't be treated but the only way to know is to visit your orthodontist. Dr. Carter provides a free consultation to let you know if you're a candidate. If you go to the Invisalign website and search for a doctor near you, try to pick an Elite Preferred doctor. This means they have done more Invisalign cases than others and will be most able to treat tough cases.

  • @0Jenni1 I had a major gap between my two front teeth which Invisalign has almost completely corrected. You can look at the video description to find the address to my blog and view some before and during pix.

  • @wapitikimiki I'm still going through treatment and should finish around March 2012. I have some photos on Dr. Carter's blog. YouTube won't let me post the web address though. I'll put it in the description of the video for you.
