So whats this dudes deal? If he played this good why did the Panthers draft Newton? Is he good enough to be a franchise qb? I'm just trying to get a little information on him. I knew he had a couple of good games down there.

To be honest, I really don't know. The major difference I saw from 2009 to 2010 was the departure of Muhsin Muhammad. If you look at the 2009 highlights in the video, you'll notice that, apart from the game against the Saints, there aren't any passes to WRs other than Smith and Muhammad (LaFell and Gettis were drafted in 2010).

I think that part of the reason for drafting Cam was because a new staff was being added, and they wanted to get a QB to build a team around.

  • @thepanthersguy Well the answer to why he didnt throw to any WR's other than smith and muhammed are simple. Who WERE the other guys? A horrible Kenny Moore, and an even worse Dwayne Jarrett.

  • @bjchit Half Decent? They had a couple of starters out and still were the #1 defense. Their starters being out did not mean anything to them all season because they kept winning. Carolina beat the #1 defense not a half decent team.

  • See, it doesn't matter where a guy is taken, as long as he's the right guy. Hell, you just said it yourself. Houston wasn't the #1 team in the league, at all. In yards at one point they were, but scoring and total defense, they never got that high. And just because Carolina played one half decent game against a good defense that had half it's starters out anyway, means nothing.

  • @bjchit Yes you do get better by getting draft picks you just have to draft good and then you have a good football team that will win with their coaching. Plus you have your facts wrong. When I posted that comment Houston had the #1 defense not Pittsburgh. So ya your the one looking stupid right now.

  • I don't know, pride maybe? You don't get better by securing draft picks, you get better by winning. Just ask the Lions. So yea, it does. The Panthers never played the Steelers, much less beat them this year. Who's the stupid one now, boy?

  • @bjchit Let me ask you a question. Why are you so hopped up on the fact that it would mean anything to the team if they do win more than 5 games. Does not really matter. Oh and how you said the panthers were bad against good defenses, We beat the #1 defense in the nfl. Please humor me some more and make yourself look even more retarded.

  • Which is not true at all, which is what I was trying to tell you, but you're too stupid to understand. Congrats, you are now telling me stuff that I've been telling you for going on two weeks now. Cam still needs to throw more touchdowns then ints if the Panthers hope to win more than 5 games a season.

  • @bjchit Did you read? I said only on designed run's does he run. He does it based on playcalling. Ron Rivera is the one who makes him run by putting spread offense plays into the playbook. Plus the panthers have a horrible defense. If they had a good defense they would have a winning record. Our team is surfaced around offense and that is why the games are always close instead of winning them.

  • Right, I only saw the team play defense, and not a moment of offense. Crimmany. I saw him do it 4 or 5 times last Sunday, I saw him do it several times the Sunday before that, and the Sunday before that, or even end the game against the Packers trying to do that on 4th and goal. It's not a sterotype if it's true, numbnuts. Against good defenses, Cam Newton is medicore at best.

  • @bjchit The defense is bad. But not the offense. You obviously have not watched

Cam play. He passes way more than he runs. He even said already he does not want to run the ball he just runs when it is a designed run or no one is open. Now I really know you don't know what you are talking about since you are using a stereotype that everyone said when he came out of college. Watch a player play before you judge him.
