China is THE SUPER POWER in the region. Burma is becoming an oblast of China. Just go to upper Burma.. you will have to speak Mandarin to do business. It is CHINA who wants the junta to be in power so that China can monoplize Burma for its own interests. That's why CHINA is protecting the junta and profitting from it.

I think its because USA doesnt want to offend China and ASEAN thats why no action was taken against this ruthless regime in Myanmar in the past. I think Pres Bush has started punishing Myanmar by trade sanctions.
