Jim is the man with the iron swing, with muscles on his muscles. He's the biggest, bestest, roughest, toughest and happiest lumberjack in all the land. When Jim suddenly realises he has chopped the last tree, he must go out on a limb to find a new calling.

  • Nice work guys well done ... i have a question i hope you can help me with im very interested in going to qantm to do the diploma in animation and just wondered if previous knowledge is needed or does the diplomas teach you pretty much the basics from scratch or is it more for people who know a fair bit already just not sure if they teach basics and work up to more advanced stuff or not though im not completely inexpirienced i have been playing around with max for 6 mnths but cant do this level

  • @xxUrbanwookiexx Hey man thanks! Im not sure what the diploma course involves as I studied the degree, but from what I saw from the other students, it looks like they cover plenty of the basics. Same goes for the degree really. We started with drawing and didn't touch any animation software till the second trimester.

I had a tiny bit of experience with 3d before studying but it didn't really give me any kind of advantage in the end.

  • @xxUrbanwookiexx ...I'd say the most important things you want to have down pretty solid before you start is drawing skills and some design sense. If you keep an open mind, learn to accept critiques, spend as much time out of class learning all the tricks of the trade, and be prepared for some serious essay writing (well for the degree anyways) then you'll go far!

Good luck with your studies dude! It was a massively stressful course but also a hell of a lot of fun!

  • This is great more work goes into animations than people realise! I love the typography at the start clever use of the negative space in the letters :)

  • @neilss1 Thanks man! Yeah these films don't just make themselves like some people seem to think. Cheers! Glad you liked it!

  • how long did it take to do this

  • @Slipknot666917 It took us around 8 months to do the entire film, from concepting characters and writing the script, right through to animating and rendering the final product

  • Well done :), and thanks Bob Baxter

  • PatrickBrown sent me too to share the love of your hard work. I love it! Your patience, talent and skill has really paid off. It was very well done and just as enjoyable to watch. Thank you for sharing. Keep up the great work! I hope to see more of your work in the future and hopefully in feature film (including as a short with a major film company; Pixar got their start their start that way so why not you). :)
