You know those videos where you see one guy sitting in a room by himself playing somebody else's music? This is one of those. I was at the Houston show in 1986 and loved this tune as a child. I recently got bored and started working on this because it was stuck in my head. I tried to capture the energy & spirit of the live show but put my own flavor on it, not copy what Jarre did. This was done purely for my own entertainment so I didn't really take any time in practicing or setting up stuff.
A bit about the production: All video shots are the actual takes you hear in the music. I just let the camera roll while playing. Everything in the recording was recorded with a microphone (no DIs) directly to 96KHz 24-bit. As you can see, it was shot over the course of many days just in the little spare time I have. The camera is always in the same place of my room and I changed only the angle to cover the different positions. All parts are played by me on the instruments you see.
nathanielscott suggested I make note of this: Vocals were recorded in a single take (didn't even stop the camera) with no post-production manipulation. There was no compression, EQ, editing or pitch correction. I DID use pitch correction on the synth because some of the oscillators were untunable. So Autotune was my last resort after many attempts at a proper recording. It's the first time I've actually used Autotune on a project in the 6+ years I've had it.

@Silenceville
Pretty close. I shortened some phrases and derived the vocals from the Lyon performance.

My live room is relatively untreated except for the odd corner, the iso booth and the ceiling. You DO get to see a diffusor behind the acoustic guitar. Large rooms generally need less treatment than small ones.

Possibly the best thing I've ever seen in my life.
