  • This drummer is so NOT in the pocket :( and he plays so fucking loud .. All we hear are those STUPID needless cymbals on every other beat.. So Buddy: Calm down #1, and #2 lock it in. You're RUINING the song. Go back and listen to the way GRANT grooves :|

  • That's Superchuck drummer, Jon Wurster. Bet you feel bad now you elitist indie snobs. Who the fuck cares! Next you'll be nitpicking that it it's not authentic Husker because Bob isn't 400 pounds. You guys are dumb. Be glad Bob still plays the song.

  • it's not authentic hüsker dü, because Bob is not overweight.

  • Jon is having so much fun. I would too. Respect the guy.

  • This is proof that the drumming can be over the top (bad) - even in this great tune. Superchunk or no - the drummer sounds horrible. Check out the version where Bob is accompanied by Brendan Canty (Fugazi) on the drums. It's a far better version!

  • Sure, you raise a valid point.. But it does not explain away the fact that this drummer is just not swinging the groove like Grant did, tho he's got real good chops. ..Grant was a HUGE reason that people liked husker du. He was a very nimble, fairly light-hitting, interesting drummer, and he really respected the groove. Being groovy is what set them apart, if you ask me.. But I'm just ranting now.. Plus I just detest crash cymbals; they are vile beasts that have no business living amongst us

  • have you considered the volume of the drums/cymbals its to do with the recording?

  • Sadly, I missed out on the Huskers magic back in the day, not having discovered the band properly until 1991. This song's their bittersweet meisterwerk. Is it my imagination, or did they play Glastonbury sometime in the late 80's?

  • I don't think that is Brendan. Brendan has only played a handful of live shows with Bob (mostly a few years ago). This guy is not as technical as Brendan, but he sure does have a lot of energy!

  • I'm pretty sure that the drummer playing is Brendan Canty of Fugazi, who is a more technical (ie - better) drummer than Grant Hart (nothing against Grant). If the "drums are too loud" then it's the sound guy's fault. If it's too fast, then you're too old. It's a punk rock song played at punk rock speed.
