I should be going home today. The bacteria has been identified as staph dermatitis and isn't very serious so I get to go home on a week of oral antibiotics. Now we just have to figure out IV access...
Forgot to mention a few things:
My headache is FINALLY better after a small dose of morphine yesterday and, oddly, a dose of phenergan for nausea that seemed to help the headache.
Also, the reason for the peripheral IV and midodrine stop-gap is to avoid getting a PICC line to tide me over until I get a new port/central line.
And lastly, I have had the most amazing peripheral IV EVER. It has lasted for 3 days with NO issues. AMAZING! Wish I could go home with it but it'll need to be changed (if I go home with one).
Thinking about you. I remember when there wasn't such a thing as having a computer in your hospital room. I'm so glad you've had it as an outlet, and a link to the outside world. Hope you're home soon. Take care.
