"The diplomatic and political minefield that is the fate of Julian Assange is expected to come a step closer to being traversed when Ecuador's president, Rafael Correa, gives his decision on whether his country will grant the WikiLeaks' founder asylum around lunchtime on Thursday.

The decision -- if it comes -- will mark the end of a turbulent process that on Wednesday night saw Ecuador's foreign minister, Ricardo PatiƱo, raging against perceived threats from Britain to "storm" the embassy and warning that such a "dangerous precedent" would be met with "appropriate responses in accordance with international law".

The dramatic development came two months after Assange suddenly walked into the embassy in a bid to avoid being extradited to Sweden, where he faces allegations of sexual assault...".* The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur breaks it down.

All this over a condom? Would you raid an Embassy just to send a rape suspect to Sweden and risk Diplomatic Relationships with other countries over something that may not even be true? No this is a cover-up/ cover-story, and a lie.

Fully. Hero to the world. Could not have been said better. Man finds truth about governments and publishes it freely is a criminal, man who makes money off your personal information is a hero. Fuck me.

Yeah man, being a hero grants you the right to have sex with any woman you want, whenever you want whether they are conscious or not. Fuck that. Assange is a weasel for attempting to escape justice - if the US wanted to start extradition proceedings against him - they could have just as easily started those proceedings with him in the UK. I admire Wikileaks but I will never admire an alleged rapist (who is going out of their way to avoid clearing their name).

Regardless if it was written on a piece of paper or if it was an audio recording, regardless of the form, Finne reviewed SW's statement. Claiming otherwise is ludicrous.

Krans is friends with Ardin, which in many countries would have disqualified her from working this case.

"she had, basically, a woman saying Assange raped her, and nothing else - no statement from Assange, no contradictory witnesses, nothing. How the F do you get from that to "no suspicion of any crime whatsoever"?"

She said no suspicion of RAPE but the other charge was maintained. Again, she wouldn't say that if it was such a clear black and white case.
