By all means, get rid of the aid and the welfare mentality. But don't replace it with the Welfare State. Replace it with Free Markets and Liberty.

@nedsneebly Are you an Aid worker who wants to benefit at the blight of people suffering? I dont think so, but something else, yeah something else. Dambisa is not a celebrtiy, she is a genuine human being, a daughter of Africa, an academic who was reading for dozens of years and it is an insult to compare her to some rubbish, ignorant losers who gain fame with no brains. Sorry but she is telling the truth, if that hurt, it did a lot of others including CELEBRITIES

Japan is the worlds leading donor of foreign aid and approximately two-thirds of its Official Development Assistance (ODA) is funnelled to Asian recipients like China.
In terms of developmental aid alone, $34 bn has been given to China by Japan.

The IMF, World Bank, China, entrepenourship and capital investment? Come on. Does she not realize the neocolonial danger that exists when you tie yourself with China. Yes, they can invest, but they will do it on their terms and you will become beholden to the Chinese business interest. Also, structural adjustment programs, such as those in Mexico and Argentina, havn't worked. So why rely on IMG and World Bank date. It's already been corrupted.

Japan HAS NOT been giving aid to China. IT's called FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) that Japan has given to China. This was given to China in 2001, after a period of marked FDI downturns in the late ninties, of only 1 billion.
Aid and the aid industry are taboo subjects which no one talks or writes about. Dr. Moyos book has boldly shed light into the misconceptions of aid effectiveness and has put forth an African solution to an African problem. Her book outlines ways to finance Africas development other than aid. I personally believe that It is individuals ingenuity and entrepreneurship which brings about development not government, not CSOs or aid.

Its sad when the only comments you have about her are attack of her personality and less of her ideals. What she is trying to say is not that wanting to help is bad but giving aid is crippling the African continent. Are you familiar with the saying "give a man a fish and feed him for a day, but teach a man to fish and you feed him for life"? Essentially aid is food for a day. Worst yet have you been to Africa and see the impact that these so called aids is having?
