  • How do you think this is Sarah?? She is Loreena McKennitt here singing!

  • @lahanadar

Search for the original video and you will see that it's Sarah.

  • I heard this when first on the House of Blues weekly TV show back in the 90's (this is an excerpt from that show). I heard only the last part of it, "Foggy Dew" and stumbled across it again just this week for the first time since it aired. I have heard this song a couple of times over the years but THIS particular treatment with Sarah M moves you to the point of tears. Her voice and this song are incredible. Unless I missed it, there is no recording of it otherwise anywhere.

  • @mbbarnesal

It gives me goose bumps every time I listen to it. Especially the second half.

  • A masterpiece in The Chieftain's style.

  • @partisan72

    It truly is!

  • I take it from the lot of you that none have heard the song done by the Clancys & Makem. Their compilation of songs of the rising is the best I've heard by any. And this is good, no mistaking that. Reminds us all of the price of freedom and the vigilance required!

  • @jarvis612 In this video the singer is Loreena, not Sarah!

  • what a suprise Sarah..singing Foggy Dew? Well she is some kind of Celt with the "Mc".

I prefer Luke myself but its a difficult song and I think she did it pretty well.

  • nah Sarah McLachlan has a much better voice than Sinead O'Connor. Absolutely love this song. To be fair I actually like the Wolfetones version best.

  • i think Sinead O' Connor's version better, it was a lot more feeling and pronounced, made me thought I had Irish heritage! lol.....AND I'm Asian!!!.

  • @CrawdaddyJoe agreed. not bad though.

  • CrawdaddyJoe, I agree. Sinead is, however, part of the heritage of what went on in that episode of her country's history. She is emotionally wrapped in her country's history and it shows. Sarah is a Canadian, a country still thoroughly dominated and happy to be under English influence. It's just another pretty song to her.

IMO, Sinead rules this song with good reason!

  • as expected, this Canadian peacenik just cannot pull it. She's just grinding her way through the lyrics with no feeling for them, no soul.
