11-04-2010 Day of my first and hopefully only crash. I was riding after getting the tires of my bike back up to the right pressure. Rode past the MacDonalds and then began to turn in the corner to the right after the lights turned green. Halfway in the corner the bike suddenly broke out from under me.... No sudden throttle in the corner or anything like that.

Back tire lost it's grip I think. Not sure how it happend, no dirt on the road (as far as I could see before taking the corner, after I crashed and the day after). The bike hit the curb and ended up turned the other direction.

Myself? No real injuries just some bruises physically and mentally (pride haha). Suit is scratched and took most of the impact. So always wear your gear no matter what the weather conditions are!

Special thanks to the people that helped out and a special thanks to the fellow motorcyclist who went to get his truck to help me get my bike back to my house.

Ride safe!

  • i wish you a quick repair and that will be the one and only crash in your life!

don't worry dude, you will fix it!!!

  • @thoffarius

It won't be fixed. The insurance said its a total loss. They are tranfering the money next monday. So I am going to get a 2008 R6.

  • yup sounds like the exact same thing that happened to me. Right hander at a red light. That rim is the worst part I think. Curbs can really screw up a bike. What did insurance say? Good luck, and I hope they don't total it.

  • @nickgnaime

Yep same thing, the rim is going to be expensive I think. I just reported it to my insurance and they are sending an expert to my dealer to have a look. I will hear from them tomorrow I hope. I assume they will cover all the damages.

I am going to get a full Leo Vince exhaust since the stock muffler is already damaged. I assume the insurance will cover that. I just pay for the difference in the price. I don't think they will say it is totaled I'll get the same but newer one.

  • @nickgnaime Haha I hit one just today on my 05 crf250r with my friend following on his quad. We were heading back to his house at 6 and he was behind me using his lights for me to see. I came off the curb thinking it would just go to dirt again like the rest had but was I sure wrong. I slid sideways into the curb going 50mph. Got thrown off and lucky missed a electrical box by less than an inch. All this while a cop was driving by and the first thing I asked my friend was is my bike ok???

  • that sad man verey very sad

  • dude i had the same thing happen at about the same time....no dirt, normal throttle, well within lean limits....i blame the dunlop believe it or not....when i got my new q2, it actually took about 500 miles before it would actually get up to full temp and grip, before that id be slidin all over the place if i didnt watch myself, now tho it is friggin awesome. glad to hear you werent hurt at least and good luck with ur bike man
