Awesome video. iMovie'09 is definitely one of the easiest video editing programs to learn/use, and I still use it to this day for my videos. It definitely gets the job done. However, it is lacking in features compared to Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro, but then again, iMovie is a lower - end video editor for everyday editing (though i heard of some movies being edited with iMovie) in my opinion, if you're able to do cuts and re-arrange clips, you can make anything a work of art.

I have the new iMovie 11 that came with the new Mac (2011). Will it recognize promptly my MiniDV? I am still looking for the cable 400/800 but I would like to know if this is enough for my case. I've heard many stories about difficulties on doing this job. Thanks!!

@yeldin You have to use a firewire cable. My camcorder actually has a mini USB port, but that doesn't work at all with iMovie.

you plugged the camera with a fire wire straight into the mac didnt you? Ive heard you have to put the tape into a player box thing and capture it from that instead?

@jacksite2007 No just firewire straight from the DV camera into the computer.
