I love Donner's work, but I still think super breath is an unintentionally dumb-looking power.

@TheShockMaster more of a serious film series, Donner had a version and it was the right one it could've been special. I'm very skeptical of the new movie being filmed as well, Donner was the man! Warner Bros. should've called him to reboot Superman and do the film series over again the right was and right a wrong that the Salkinds did to him.

Why does Part 2 of this doc not start at where Part 1 left off?

Check out Tom Mankiewicz's shooting script for Superman II
This script is magical, the scnes with Zod and Ursa are better in this cript than in the Lester's version, the villains are truly menacing as Donner said. If only Salkind paid out Marlon Brando nad did not fire Richard Donner this movie could have been better than the first part.

@Paul07791 I thinks it is not Lester's fault, it was the Salkind's fault. As Mankiewicz and Margot Kiddrr said he is a great director but not for Superman because he is very cynical nad outside the material, Whereas Donner was a fan of Superman, he believed you shoukld go inside the material!

Also, I get sick of people blaming Lester. Someone had to do it. If you're gonna blame someone blame Brando and his financial greed. If I were being cynical I would say that the only reason we have the Donner Cut is because Brando is dead.

I like the Lester version. I don't care what everyone else on here thinks. It has two extra action sequences, snappier dialogue and and a faster pace. In my oppion that makes for a better movie.
I do think that if Donner had remained on the film that his version would also have been snappier, but he had an agenda to fill two hours with mostly his footage for the Donner Cut.... which is why in my oppion we get some serious lulls in excitement.

@arcuz92 The original comment wasn't even *to* you, therefore your spurious logic fails before it even has a chance to get off the ground. I shall not and will not censure my comments to pander to your personal whims. If you don't like reading certain comments on YT or on any other website, or in newspapers or in books - then just don't read them as there's a whole world out there made up of people who aren't you.
Very good point that Donner made at the end, what if he and Tom had been left on board for the whole deal? That would have been a spectacular series of films...after Lester took over, Superman II became a little more about campy comedy, and then come Superman III, which he has total creative control over, it's TOTALLY campy comedy. More films with a more serious treatment with more of the comic book villains...now THAT would have been something.
