Making your own premade mixes are healthy and convenient. They also save a lot of money from buying them ready made.

  • where do you find lard?

  • @ceh333 Were you able to find the lard? It's normally in the baking isles up here. If not you could use butter, but store it in the fridge.

  • I love your cooking videos and watch them when I make them. when we tried to switch our internet to dish network we went a week with no internet and I had never written down anything to refer back to. It was the worst week of eating here ever. All the good stuff we eat I could not make b/c I did not a recipe to refer to. I am now printing it all out so I can update my recipe binder. Funny thing is I did that for our oldest daughter as a gift when she went away to school. lesson learned. :)

  • @avon2891 Oh that's happened to me before to! I try to keep a paper recipe book as well as a backup on my pc.

  • Can you tell me how long you keep the mix after you made it?

  • @glitterflying So sorry for the late reply. YT doesn't always send me the comments. We go through it pretty quick here. But I would say it would last on the shelf for at least 6 months, if your using white flour and lard. Whole wheat flour will go bad in a few weeks though. You could store it longer by keeping it in the fridge, freezer or vac sealing it.

  • @dapuma71 Actually if you research real traditional foods, you'll find lard is much healthier then refined veggie oils. the Weston A Price Foundation has a lot of good info as a place to start. :-)

  • @VivianRinSC They sure are handy aren't they! I love knowing what's IN them to!

  • When you used the powdered skim milk, does it have to be powderd or can i just use regular milk? By the way, awsome video.

  • So if you use margerine, you need to refridgerate this, correct?

  • can you save lard long term by canning it im curious

  • can you save yje lard long term by canning it im co curious

  • why even use the stuff? Good old fashioned flour is all you need.

  • Ahhh, lard! My grandma used to make her pie crusts with that stuff - the best flavor and texture, too! :)

  • I will be trying this recipe because i just love love love bisquick you can do so much with it. Any chicken and dumpling recipes? Oh hehe, and thank you for posting.

  • I want to thank you for your great videos. I've been canning fruits and vegetables but meat made me nervous because I thought it would be harder to do. You make it simple. As I type this, I just came back from checking my broth, which I started after watching your video on soups. (It's 5:40 in the morning so you can guess how much your video impacted me.) I also wrote down your recipe on the "bisquick type" mix which I will be preparing after I watch your video on the biscuits. Thanks again.
