This clip shows the beginning of a lance-tailed manakin (Chiroxiphia lanceolata) dance display. The alpha and beta male attract the female to their display perch, and then begin a cooperative leapfrog dance display.

Intrepid field assistant M.B. is visible in the background trying to read the color bands on their legs.

  • is this in Florida? and what this dance represents? why they do it?

  • This video is from Panama, and the males are doing a courtship dance to impress a female (the third bird to fly into the picture).
