There as many different percussive approaches as there are people. This is just my version about it and it has quite simple basics though this vid was made in a hurry so look below for more instructions. It can be used on almost any stuff you pick up (Beatles, Metallica, Earth, Wind & Fire, HipHop, Reggae..) without the need to do complicated arranging and/or alternate tunings, you can just add the drums on the old strumming and slapping capability you (hopefully) already have. And you can also use it with almost any acoustic string-instrument (bass, ukulele, classical guitar..) or electric if you stuff in a few piezos.

And it's like chess, it has a simple beginning and it can get as complicated as you want it to get. It's all up to you. Have fun!

P.S. Something about the someday upcoming "part 2"...

Here's only drumming, it's only the starting-point. If you look closely the drumming PLUS ringing strings happens like this:

1.You hit the bass drum and at the same time hit the strings with your nails. Keep your hand in a relaxed fist.

2.Open the hand straight, fingers hit the strings.

3.Hit down the snare. Slam your fingers on the end of the fingerboard. If you hit your hand in an little angle closing only the 1st and 2nd strings, you can make the strings below ring at the same time with a very slappish -tone.

4.Fingers pull off the strings and curl back to the fist at the same time. then go again from the top..

...and voilá! You got cycle. The 8.beat drum is backing you up. If the hand positions don't open up just by explaining don't worry, I'll demonstrate it you on the next vid.

How come 20 people unliked it? I found this tutorial pretty useful, its so motivating! Things you play look quite difficult but now I can see they are possible just with a bit of work. You're a very good teacher. I'm subscribing the channel. I'd love to hear and see more about percussive acoustic guitar!
