  • @jp1713 wait... wat? what the hell does malcolm gladwell have anything to do with this thread?

have you read any of MG's books?

Have you read any of his articles on his website? he is excellent, i have no idea why you're hatin' so hard.

Gladwell has a very accessible style, developing broader interest in stats and public policy.

  • @veegta83 no one mentioned a competition, just you. gladwell is a charlatan who's never had an original idea and has somehow convinced others he is the real deal. it is bewildering to watch, but i suppose it says just as much about the times we live in as anything else.

in fact, it's an apropos metaphor of the times; the fake ripoff passed off as authentic. sounds like something ralph ellison could have driven a country mile.

lord knows american idol's cleaning up on this front...

  • @deyegoroe

Both are great writers, it'd not a competition. I lthink we are fortunate that we have two great authours to read. I disagree with Gladwell's conclusions that end up being politically driven. Lewis tells the story and they are lighter stories.

  • Genius

  • couldn't agree more - TBS is one of the best books I've ever read - period.

  • ML is simply one of the best writers today, far and away above that overrated Gladwell, for instance, who I find obvious and not at all insightful. ML, on the other hand, is not only a great writer, but his presentation and analysis are insightful, and entertaining in the genuine way that Gladwell only apes at.

ML is, simply, the real deal. And he seems like a really down to earth person, always a bonus with someone of his caliber.

  • Read Liar's Poker too!

  • gilbromley--Agreed. Everything Lewis has written is excellent. As this video shows, he is also an engaging speaker.

  • one of the best writers around. do yourself a favor and read The Blind Side.

  • Michael, would you marry me?
