Toronto's ROM Crystal Addition: 4.5 Year Time-Lapse

This is a just-released time-lapse of Michael Lee-Chin's Crystal addition to the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM). The period covered is from May 2003 to opening night in November 2007, through a series of still images captured daily at 1 pm during construction and at 10-minute intervals throughout opening week.
The ROM has always been one of my favourite spots in the city, even though it was a pain/thorn during the construction process.

Sorry but that thing is brutally ugly, I remember when they first started building it back in 03, and during the summer of 05 / 06 that was just a brutal looking structure. It looks nicer with the facade but just barely. Walking inside the building is no better, so much space has been lost pointlessly. Now the ROM just sucks. I liked the ROM before they built this massive waste of money. I have been back once since they completed construction and I am not going back ever again.

while it looks alright, it destroyed display space inside the Rom. The pre historic exhibit was a unique style of showing pieces in a recreation of ancient life; the best exhibit in the world. Now less pieces are shown in the same boring manner as any other institution. Millions to make the guts less attractive.

I love this building. I work at Yonge and Bloor and walk by it all the time. I understand that some people prefer older styles of architecture, but the fact that the old and new building compliment each other so well will hopefully inspire them.
