This is our recent trip to Uwharrie River. We made our base camp at Morrow Mountain State Park and camped one night on the Uwharrie River. The weather was great and everything went according to plan.

Some of the audio is low and scratchy... I was using a waterproof case on my flip camera and didn't realize it would affect the audio so much.

  • where did yall park to get out at? 109 or at morrow mountain

  • @MrCAROLINAKUSH We parked at the parking lot @ Morrow Mountain. If you let the park rangers know and leave a note in your window it's usually not a problem.

  • Other trips we take out after the last rapid. You can park your car in the Uwharrie Rec Area. Its a lot more fun during the summer but water levels can make the trip impossible during the dry months. One of my favorite places!!! This video makes me want to get back out there. Actually camping over in the Uwharries this weekend.

  • @rottinpeach We are actually planning another trip March 25th. We'll be putting in farther up the river... I can't remember the bridge. Anyways we are going to camp 2 nights on the river... going to try and spend some more time on shore doing some gold panning, metal detecting and fishing.

  • We put in @ Low Water Bridge... can't tell you for sure what road that is but if you look at a forest map you'll see it. We ended @ Morrow Mountain State Park. If you have a forest map you'll see where the national forest ends and begins and where there's private property. Anywhere you're in the national forest you can camp. The problem is finding a place to get out. Most of the riverbanks are really steep. The best place to camp is just before the 109 bridge. There's a place that's accessible.

  • where did you guys park to get out

  • i peed in that river... ;)

  • Hope y'all have a safe trip. We may do it this summer if the water is up. I prefer doing it in warmer weather. I don't mind getting wet in the summer. Seems the last couple times down we hit those small rapids wrong in the canoe and water dipped in the side and capsized us. That was in the cooler months and made the rest of the ride down pretty cool. Good luck panning for gold!!!

  • My brothers and I have done the same trip quite a few times. We put in up on High Pine Church road and went all the way to Morrow Mtn. The last mile or so to MM is all paddle!! Its a great river to paddle. We have camped on the banks a couple of times. But since we dumped the canoe, we decided to leave the equipment out of the boat. We did the river once on New Years Eve, that was pretty cold. I think we stopped for lunch and swam at the same location you all did. You can pan for gold too!!!

  • I've been living the fast life in big cities for the last 15 years now and only going home to NC for about one week per year. Watching this video makes me feel like moving back to NC and getting back to what's important instead of the bulls&(T. Family, friends and fun in God's country!
