The Role of Nuclear Power in Ontario's Clean Energy Future: A Debate

The province of Ontario is at a turning point in deciding
how to meet future energy needs, and each of the provincial
parties have a different energy plan for Ontario's future.

Are the purchase of the new nuclear reactor's the best plan
to meet Ontario's future energy needs?

The debate resolution was:

"That nuclear energy is a necessary component to meet Ontario's energy needs".




This is a crucial issue for the 2011 Ontario election because we are at the point where we need to decide whether to expand our investment in nuclear power or switch into renewable alternatives, and the lead times for making substantial changes are measured in decades.

I was actually only planning on taking still photographs for my friends at FairVote/CAPP but I'm glad I switched on video because this was such an interesting debate.

presented by Fairvote Canada (Waterloo Region Chapter) and CAPP (Canadians Advocating Political Participation) during Fairvote Canada's first annual Democracy Week, September 2011
