I did this with crc silicone spray and i was more than happy with the results. They look brand new again ;)

@ICUC007 I did this a couple of years ago and it made my flares look good for a couple of months but the white haze/blushing came back even worse. I ended up painting them with Krylon Fusion for Plastic paint. Very pleased with the paint. It really adheres and looks great! Hard to believe you can get great results from a $6 can of spray paint, but you can.

I'd much rather use Magic Black trim dye. Worked amazingly on the Volvo I had. I now am going to use it on my WRX.

Rubber gets dull and hard from age right? Don't you suppose that in reality you are like super aging that rubber. maybe it looks better for a while, but I bet you are adding 5 or 10 years to that rubbers age. What do ya think?...ya, no ?

@ICUC007 well, these aren't rubber. it's black molded plastic. you're basically melting the top layer of the plastic. I mean, what we're showing you here is a long-term TEMPORARY solution... just like Back to Black, etc... The only way to keep plastic moulding from going dull is to not park it in the sun... ever. You CAN melt the plastic if you're not careful. I melted some by either holding the heat on it for too long or getting too close.

I tried this yesterday on my jeep fender flares and it did some ugly streaking once it dried. I guess I will just paint them instead.

@kbmuckymuck sounds like you either had the gun heat set too high or you were using it too close... or leaving it in an area for too long.

does this do damage to the bumpers abd also wouldnt the ehat gun be harsh on the paint?

as long as you don't hold the heat over any area for too long.
