Jürgen Ahrend talks about the Martinikerk pipe organ

This is footage from a major feature-length documentary, 'Martinikerk Rondeau', which is about sixteen historic organs around Groningen. The film features Jürgen Ahrend, Cor Edskes, Bernhardt Edskes, Jan Jongepier and Sietze de Vries. The film traces the history of these organs and their restorations, and includes performances of Bach, Buxtehude, Weckmann and Bohm and also many historically informed improvisations by the Haarlem International Improvisation Competition winner Sietze de Vries.

if this is really an improvisation by de vries then its totally amazing. can imagine that buxtehude, bach or bruhns had similar skills. anyone up to write down the scores? im lazy and not that good.

Ich denke, Ahrend selbst würde sich nie über andere so drastische Urteile anmaßen, wie seine Kritiker über ihn.

The first piece you hear is an improvisation by Sietze de Vries and the piece in the video's ending is probably the ending of the same improvisation. The piece on the 8' flute is a variation on 'Freu dich sehr, o meine Seele' composed by Georg Bohm.
