I could do this in my garage with the right combination of parts. It would probably cost me a couple thousand dollars to turn a decent four cylinder vehicle into a 50+ mpg car, but I could certainly do it. Do any of you expect to see this produced? I expect the oil companies to squash the technology. This video should be seen by every congressman, senator and member of the Obama administration. It's simple, it's doable and nothing can stop it other than Exxon and McBush's friends.
That's right it came right from scientists at MIT. The process involves injecting a very small quantity of ethanol into the combustion chamber at a certain point in the four stroke cycle (intake, compression, power, exhaust). This process allows the automakers to build smaller engines that utilize higher compression ratios and turbocharging or supercharging to create 25% to 30% increased efficiency. There is also a great increase in torque, which is one benefit of the diesel engine.
If you'd like to see how ANY gasoline powered vehicle can be A) more efficient by 25% to 30% B) have zero loss in power or torque C) have no changes to the amenities (i.e. air conditioning, electronics, etc.) D) replace millions of dirty diesel engine. Google MIT Ethanol Injection.

Then again, it's also basically the same concept as a water valve injection engine.
This isn't new technology.

Even if we could run a gasoline engine at 100% capacity, that still wouldn't be enough.
What we need are electric dominant hybrids.
Since even the dirtiest coal would be greener than a Prius when put into an Electric car.

So you made a gasoline engine as effecient as a diesel engine.
Whoop de doo.
HCI engines already do that, and do it even better.
