Delving Minecraft Tutorial: Secret Doors / Hidden Doors part 1 (Basics)

In this tutorial, we look at how to build 2-stage secret doors using sticky pistons and redstone. 2-stage doors can be completely flush with the wall they are built into and do not require any redstone to be visible.

Hey.

I really like the tutorial, but you could do with explaining why you've put torches and wires where you have.

Right now the top two blocks of my door refuse to move up along with the bottom ones, and when I flip the switch, none of the blocks go back to the sides leaving a doorway.

@superwaffle01 pistons can be tricky things to power properly (like dispensers). Make sure you do not have a block with a torch on it adjacent to a piston, if you do, the piston may be powered by the torch and the block. That is the issue I encounter most often. This is also the reason why making 2-stage doors larger than 2x2 are so difficult. If this is not your issue, feel free to PM me or send a video response and I'll see if I can help.

Thank you!!! followed it perfectly, and it works perfectly, one thing, how do you delay the door closing behind you? i think my pressure plates are slightly further back and it keeps getting me! lol

@LordJoben Try increasing the delay on all of the reverse signal generator repeaters by 1 or 2 ticks each.

@kroksay not working at all? or not working properly? Check to make sure you're getting power to the torches, check to make sure the signal is inverted for the bottom stage 2 pistons, check nearby circuits for conflicts.

nice tutorial!

I built one of these just a few days ago without any tutorials.

it took me a lot of time and way more wiring. especially as I had to come up with a design for a signal reverser myself and it ended up being way bigger and much more complex :-D
