The fact that Judy didn't win the Oscar for her performance in A Star Is Born, was and is still the Greatest Blunder in Academy Award History !! Screw the Academy for their failue to see her Greatness in that movie...What a natural Actor and highly underrated ...RIP Judy..xo

It's so heartbreaking that a woman who was once billed as, "The World's Greatest Entertainer" met such a tragic end.
I can certainly say this for Judy, She will NEVER be forgotten--ever. It's true, they do play The Wizard of Oz every year on tv, and that film alone has permanently etched a place for her in our collective hearts.
RIP sweetheart <3

i didnt know that! i know they put her on drugs - the guy with initials LM i can't remember his name - put her on drugs ~(uppers) to enable her to have more energy and downers to go to sleep again - sheer child abuse - her mother was a bitch and so was that Hollywood man LM -i cant remember his name

makes me sad

i wish i could go back in time and see her perform live. she would have been magnificent, and she was always so respectful to her audiences

Judy Garland was wonderful & yes like she said her life was a roller coaster but for her fans she was always the top of the top she was simply the best no matter if she sounded different than when she was in her 20's or if she was skinny or not she was a true talent & a true artist & most importantly she loved her fans. & that's why we still love her. I was born in 1985 & I wish I had met her & I think we all wish we could had helped her with her pills addiction that MGM did to her. She is miss

Hey, thanks so much for posting this, and a nice montage of clips/images behind this interview! "The Clock" is a very underrated film, but it's been gaining more stature recently. I loved the interview as well - Judy was such a great raconteur along with all of her other talents. But jeez, there are a lot of drama queens lurking around here!
very revealing that when he asked her 'do you think you've had a rich life'
he intended to get her talking about Hollywood and all the stars she worked with or her experiences at her amazing live concerts
And she jusy flatly and without thinking said 'no'
this is followed by a rather shocked silence

This is an interesting perspective on a possible direction the interviewer intended ... It could very well be the reason Judy answered the way she did. It was not in her nature to follow that lead. Thank you for the astute observation.

Judy--Marvelous to the end; self-deprecating and insightful...eloquent. Deans? She was ill when she married him; it is clear that she's ill here (at the end of her life). Her judgment was impaired, and I think that anyone who questions the severe impairment of her judgment is naive. Her insistence that "only now" (with Deans) has her incredible life had any "meaning" is an ill statement. Clearly. Hope had become desperation, for her. The man was not her savior. Her other insights are grand.

Judy always spoke in absolutes during the 'honeymoon' period of a relationship/marriage. Her commitment was always total, complete. She had an 'inability' to hold anything back. This was true in her work & love.
Do I think her life had no meanig before Mickey? NO
Do I think they loved each other? YES
Do I think they both knew she was dieing?
YES
Will I assess his motives? NO
For me, the only thing about Judy that is well documented is what she said, in her own eloquent words.

This was really interesting, I've only heard bits and pieces of this interview before. Judy sounds alert and coherent here, and in good spirits....I think she really loved Mickey Deans. Her speaking voice sounds a little raspy, far more mature than one would expect a relatively young woman of 46 to sound - but this was a nice treat for me to see--and I thought I had heard and seen everything on Judy -
THANK YOU for posting!

I have to stand in the middle about Mickey Deans. At heart, I'm a peacemaker. ... Some words over the years have been unflattering ... & I give the respect that should be given for those expressions - perhaps there are reasons. However, not many people have stood up to give this LOVE between Mickey & Judy a voice. Who am I to judge? Judy says she loves, Mickey says he loves ... What more is there to understand?
That's the respect I give to both of them.
