@mabedfo I see. It's still a beautiful car. Besides I don't like abusing my car. I don't race, but sometimes I want to go all out on the freeway here in California. I'm excited about this car.

Is the transmission the same as the other models like the exige? how good is the transmission? is it race made or just a everyday drive transmission? i asked because i am planning to get the base model. thank you in advance.

@Merts478 The Lotus Elise R (old model name 111R) and Exige and Exige S all share the same 6 speed Toyota transmission. It is the same transmission as found in a Toyota Celica connected to the same engine, Lotus just up the power of the engine with differnt air-box, exhaust and ECU. The transmission is grat up to around the 330hp mark where gears 4 and especally 3 are a weak point and can loose their teeth under high-torque situations.

@mabedfo CONTINUED... The Elise R and Exige models have 195 hp, the Exige S 220 hp and the later models have 240 and 260 hp so the standard transmission at these power levels are not a problem. My current Exige S (see my recent video I posted on it) wil be ugraded to 330hp soon and so im considering swapping the 3rd and 4th gear cogs for stronger ones. The base model (depending one what country you are from and the year) may have a 5 speed transmission which is a totally different transmission

@mabedfo and I've heard is actally a little stronger than the 6 speed transmission, BUT the base models engine is not very suitable for upgrading. If your buying a Elise and want to be able to supercharge it, make sure it has a 1.8 2ZZ engine otherwise you would be recommened to go for a engine swap. Cheers - Mabedfo
