Give him some credit, he was polite and said thanks, didn't get all pissy like some of them do. Better too much confidence than not enough, it is much harder to fix, nearly impossible, if a child lacks confidence.

I seriously think people should stop bashing this guy, he's doing what he loves, and fuck who cares how good he is at it, everyone starts somewhere, at least he's out in the world doing something he loves, and if that makes him happy, then good for him.
