No it's not that particular flight. The tailstrike (and subsequent damage to runway lighting equipment and airport antenna) accident indeed occured on EK Flight 407, but it happened on 03/20/09. This video is from 2007. Whether it was caused by human fatigue is still under investigation by the Australian Transport Safety Bureau. Keep in mind that pilot stress and fatigue is considered to be an issue for many airlines around the world, not for Emirates only.

And now three flights daily DXB-MEL are:
DXB-MEL nonstop A345 - will be upgraded to 77W
DXB-KUL-MEL A345 - will be upgraded to 77W
DXB-SIN-MEL 77W
Not sure when exactly are the flights switching from A345 to 77W but when i tried reserving tickets for September it said 77W for all three flights.

This flight almost crashed didn't it? On a takeoff from Melbourne, Australia. The pilots mistook the weight of the plane on takeoff, and they had to drag the tail on the pavement before the end of the runway to get it up in the air. Close call. Emirates has been said to overwork there pilots, I think if they don't change regulation they will be paying for a new A380 :S

I've been to both New Zealand and Australia on business and to be honest New Zealand I found to be much nicer than Australia. Nicer people and more friendly, nicer airports, better customer service, better and more efficient in business terms and people are not always boozed up when you see them.

True, hadn't heard that, just read it online! Nice one!

Last year it was clearly stated that MEL will be next to recieve A380 service. BNE only just got a second daily EK flight and I find it hard to see them deploying an A380 on the route. MEL is 3-times-daily by EK and has been ready for before SYD, BNE and any other Australian city. BNE can not handle the extra capacity at the moment.
-
I think you will find that BNE will get the 380 before MEL as it is already equipped with the a 380 airbridge which connects straight to the Emirates lounge, no such developments at MEL, anyway where did you find such infomation out??

and now, effective February 2009, there is a third daily flight.
AKL-MEL-DXB (Airbus A340-500)
MEL-SIN-DXB (Boeing 777-300, will upgraded to 77W soon)
MEL-DXB (Airbus A340-500)
Also, the AKL-MEL-DXB service using an A340 will be the A380 service, when Emirates gets more of the super-jumbos, will be in service to AKL-MEL by end 2009 /early 2010.
Where did you fly from? i also noticed that ur on an A340, quite rare to fly with on emirates, if u ask me.
