Private First Class (now Sergeant) Bowe Bergdahl of Hailey, Idaho, was captured by the Taliban in Afghanistan on June 30, 2009. A video released on December 8, 2010 shows Taliban leader Mullah Sangeen Zadran and POW Bowe Bergdahl, who has a significant wound on his left cheek. Bowe Bergdahl is still alive, he is being held captive and, if he were not considered of value by the Taliban, he would have been executed. The Taliban is asking for the release of 21 Afghan prisoners and Aafia Siddiqui that the United States has custody of in exchange for Bowe Bergdahl. The President or the Secretary-of-State are the only ones that can make the decision and order the appropriate action be taken.
