@flower24587 You are so way off base. Your dream world sounds lovely, but the fact is that there are NOT enough homes for these animals. The fact is, disease is an issue. Have you read about parvo? Canine distemper? Heartworm? All of these diseases are on the rise because people cannot afford to (or chose not to?) vaccinate their pets or otherwise provide them with the medical attention they need to stay healthy.

@flower24587 Show me those homes that are willing to take in each and every pet that is on "the list." I work with many rescues and shelters in the Chicago area. Some are "no kill" and they work hard to find space for the pets they cannot provide kennels for. Some are "open door," and they work even more tirelessly to avoid humane euthanasia. The staff and volunteers work their fingers to the bone to raise funds for the pets that need medical attention and homes for the others.

For every person that calls humane euthanasia murder, I challenge you to take each dog or cat or rabbit (etc.) into your home until you can find a suitable alternative. Feed that pet. Exercise that pet. Shelter that pet. Until you find a suitable alternative. Then when that suitable alternative can no longer care for that pet, take that pet back into your home until another suitable alternative can be found. Spend a day in her shoes before spewing your hate for "open door" animal shelters.

Even if there ARE enough homes, it does not mean people will take the initiative to adopt or care for them. As it stands now, there are millions of dogs being abused and mistreated...sad as it is to say, there is not enough room, money, or materials to board and medically care for every animal that is sent to the shelter. I never said I agree with euthanasia, I hate it, and it IS wrong. But there's nothing that can be done other than spreading awareness.

Of course animals should not roam the streets or not be taken care of or bred. But there are plenty of homes. The propaganda that there are not enough homes is just an excuse, the gullible are mouthpieces for the "shelter" propaganda. There are homes and there is room for all the animals to be adopted. It is the killing that perpetuates the killing. Stop the killing and the animals will be adopted. Those ARE the facts.

Animals do not deserve to be killed any more than humans do, if you would not do it to a human, then don't do it to an animal. Killing animals is not ethical or moral. They do not suffer in a kennel nor does disease "spread" -- the contagion theory was disproved in the 1800's. "Disease" is just another excuse to kill. Do you also want humans killed if they have a "disease?"

Not necessarily, there's a difference between liscensed breeders and puppy mills. "Responsible" breeders don't allow inbreeding or reproduction of ill dogs. They normally take the pregnant dog to the Vet for check-ups, and when the puppies are born they are vaccinated. Puppy mills? There's no freedom, concern-for health or well-being of the dogs forced to procreate litter after litter. As a result, they're typically sick. Both contribute to the issue, however.

cats and dogs and refuse to alter their animals this would not have to happen. Meanwhile, money greedy bastards continue to force-breed slave dogs until they can reproduce no longer when they are just tossed out like trash. Why do they NOT get the blame?? Or the people who want their children to experience the "miracle of birth"? Seriously, learn your facts. No one likes to do this, but there is no choice. There's not enough room for all of the millions of pets out there.

What are you? A child? I love animals and it breaks my heart that this must be done, but there is no way around it. If there is no euthanasia, there is letting animals suffer inside of a kennel, and the spread of disease among other things..Are we just supposed to deny the animals that need to be taken out of the streets or from people who can't take care of them? No....that's JUST as bad as euthanasia. If it wasn't for ignorant fucks that continue to breed (c.)

I go on line in search of another dog for mine who has just lost his mate. I find an older dog, one that is a senor that might replace his friend. It needs a home asap or it's bye bye for this dog. I can't afford the 100 to 300 dollars, but I can afford to feed it. I'll work through the times it goes to the vet. How come I can't get that dog even if I can't afford the adoption fees? So another one I really liked gets put to sleep. Why? Because I didn't have the money? This makes me mad!

@promise2bgood If you can't afford the adoption fee, you can't afford a dog. What happens if you adopt the dog and it has heartworm and needs a $700 treatment?

I, for one, applaud you for making this video because I know you must get so much flak from people who know NOTHING about animal euthanasia. So many people are uninformed or naive and really think shelters euthanize animals just to be cruel or mean which IS NOT true.
I can't believe some people really don't understand why euthanasia is done. Shelter over crowding breeds disease and horrible conditions which means that though they may be 'alive' those animals would suffer tremendously.

@urbanr0cker Agreed. The same people demanding to keep a shelter overcrowded are probably against puppy mills...which are also overcrowded and breed disease
