  • However posted this is an arsehole. How would you like it if I put a camara in your face? This is the trouble dealing with the public. As a driver you make an decision you feel is correct. Then you get some twat trying to destroy your good name, all the good things you have done for passengers in a 3min clip. Dickhead.

  • You can refuse to carry out any particular duty, if it is considered unreasonable to do so , on the grounds that it might risk the health and safety of the person with a disability, other passengers ,yourself or the security of the bus or coach.Page 35 DSA Guide to driving buses and coaches. The driver was right .

  • Poor driver. If he had a bad back then he can't operate the ramp. You shouldn't push him to the extremes of having to block his face with a pad just because he has a bad back.

  • @theblackfish90 - Sounds fair enough to me.

  • Do you think your some kind of TV Reporter going off Like that , The Driver is In controll of that bus , Not you . He does what he thinks is best , If he can not operate the ramp for some reason Im sure he has his rights?May I also ask what reply you got back from FirstGroup , Probably none! as they thought this was rediculous aswell. And that gap from the Pavement and the bus is not that wide ,If the driver dident help the wheelchair user,Why dident You?! Im sure you could have got her off ok!

  • I'm a free pass holder, and I think you're all tarring the lot with the same brush here! I'm 21 and use the free pass because I will never be allowed to drive due to disability! I'm certainly not the one stop hopper type and would happily pay a subsidy to travel. Yes I may accidentally show my pass before 9AM, but purely through force of habit. We're only human! One other thing, if you're rude to me, I will be twice as rude to you. Manners cost nothing and there is no need for arrogant attitudes

  • I thought all modern buses would have powered ramps so that the driver doesn't have to leave his/her cab. There is no need to ram a camera in his face as he didn't do anything wrong and you BREACHED his privacy!

  • they must,ve been on their way to appear on the jeremy kyle show/

  • The ones with free passes are the worst passengers. Everytime I've had a confrontation, it has been with a free pass holder. They also think the pass is to be used at their disposal. I've even had people use the pass just to cross the road, oh and the one stop hoppers. If they had to pay a subsidy towards the scheme everytime they used the pass, I'm sure they would use their pass more wisely. Now buses are stopping at nearly every stop along the route. What a big fuck up.

  • @1100HondaCB - I wish they'd get rid off free passes too, and I'll put money on not being the only one saying that. I don't expect them to pay full adult fare (except in peak hours), but a token fare of say 90p a journey would hopefully make them think before riding just one or two stops. Some of them get no exercise at all as a result of free passes.

  • @1100HondaCB Yeah, it's a shame about the DDA getting the way of progress. If it weren't for that buses would be made far cheaper and trains would still have slam doors. If you got the occasional wheelchair in the 70's or 80's they just rode in the guard's van and thought nothing of it. I remember seeing one at the age of 8 in 1979.

If the DDA had never been created we'd have loads more railway stations cos the could be built on the cheap.

Do these people wanna help with the cost? Not a chance!

  • @Nigel16032009 One thing I've noticed recently, there have been an increase in all day free passes. The bus drivers I spoke to, tell me the job changed for the worse since they introduced free passes. It would be the happiest day of my life if free passes were withdrawn. I've had so many old gits not press the bell, so I just kept going as I'm concentrating on the driving. They had a very long walk back. So many people abuse their free pass. I could tell a few stories. Make em pay
