Doug from Hondata building the Full-Race turbo R18 basemap. Phase 1 of the dyno tuning was done as shown in the video using a 100% stock R18 engine, and Full-Race R18 turbokit + Full-Race FA2/FG2 3" exhaust.

Extra supporting mods are: RDX injectors + walbro 255 fuel pump + 6puck clutch + Hondata Flashpro. For phase 1 we decided to use the smallest EFR turbo in the family, to represent the fastest spooling, but lowest power output possible with our kit.

Phase 2 will be done with the hondata 4bar map sensor (so we can turn the boost above 10psi) and a larger EFR turbo, the 6758.

Keep an eye out for a big R18 TURBO FAQ posted on Full-Race.com in 1 week

  • What is the boost pressure achieved in this stage 1 set up? If the boost controller is disconnected, is the boost pressure regulated directly by the diaphragm?

255whp is good, what's the baseline of this engine in stock form?

  • @cplim72 boost pressure is 9psi, rising to 10psi for a minute, then back to 9psi. Regulated by the diaphragm with 2mm of preload on the wastegate canister. Boost would be 7-8psi with 0.5-1mm preload (you always want a tiny bit of preload). fuel used is poor grade arizona 91 octane pump gas. this engine stock produces 113whp

  • only doing low boost testing - boost controller disconnected. also the smallest EFR turbo in the family... 255whp to start

  • CRAZY! Can't believe you guys are pulling that much power out of this lil motor with such minimal mods.

Question -> how difficult would it be for the garage mechanic to mod this motor, since it's in such a confined engine bay? Seems like you'd have to pull the motor to install the injectors!?

  • what would be the best setup for time attack events?

  • do you proceed into the phase 2 with a larger turbo on r18 ?

  • @XxRuffRydaxX vtec doesnt like boost? go watch some videos with real honda motors the R18 is garbage. K-series ftw.

  • @markb16a the standard wastegate is at 42mm. For internal it's huge and you would be a fool to change to external just for the sound alone. It's always interesting to see turbos on V-Tec setups but I personally believe the V-Tec is more suited for a supercharger than a turbocharger. V-Tec doesn't like too much boost and a supercharger would have more power to play trhought the entire band, although the EFR is very responsive.

  • @FullRaceVids what do you think of using hondata? good for $700 price?

  • any chance of this working on fd1's?

  • oh my dear lord... this EFR really is the business... i could hear it spooling from IDLE! ive got to get my hands on one.

  • more efr dynos and graphs please! big power upgrade for stock motor!

  • Friggin AWESOME! BW ftw doesn't matter what car its in.

  • and it's bc of this, that my 07 Si has an FR Mani and a GT3076 now lol. I'll be damned if an ex can catch me lol.

  • is this internally wastegated? didnt hear the good stuff?

  • How mutch power ? does it pass the 200whp with this setup ?

  • OOOOOh, so long I have waited for this!!!
