On November 3rd, 2007, Steamtown ran a special trip to the Delaware Water Gap and back as a part of "Lackawanna Railfest". Tagging along on the rear of the train were two visitng private cars from the New York & Greenwood Lake Railroad, along with Steamtown's own "Lehigh Valley" private car.

Special Thanks goes out to Charles Liberto for making this trip possible.

What made this trip particularly unusual is that the steam power (Canadian National #3254) was placed on the West end of the train. Normally, steam is almost always placed on the East end (outbound) for Steamtown's excursion runs.

Having the locomotive on the opposite end allowed for a inbound trip to have the steam locomotive facing the right direction, instead of running tender first or with a diesel assist - thus offering for some very rare photo oppurtunities.

  • great video - fantastic editing - a must watch.....

  • man she can haul ASSSS!i think that its much easier for 3254 to have a long train and go over grades because shes a freight locomotive with smaller drivers
