Not only a great job on the drums - but Johnny was a great guy, too!

  • I just love listening to this one - I was only about 2 years old at this time - 1954 - I think that was when they went coast to coast for the first time. My brother, (Buddy Merrill, on the guitar) had just joined the band. The early days of the Welk show, I thought, were the best. What great music the band put out. I loved watching my big brother on tv (and also my heartthrob, Rocky Rockwell on the trumpet)

  • @niubilly Definitely.. he's from the old school of Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich. Love it.

  • @144z johnny klein is your uncle

  • @judyjudymyrna I've got that album. Wish it could be

    re-issued.

  • WOW! my Great Uncle John did great job!

  • I always loved the way Johnny Klein played drums!

  • I have always liked this classic. But I've never heard played better than this. it was recorded live in NY Madison Sq Garden on March 26, 1956 on an alburm with this same arrangement. Outstanding

  • Wow! This is one swinging performance and Johnny K shows what a fine drummer he really was!!
